Lore Hall represents African American women's efforts to gain access to higher education within Delaware's racially segregated system in the 1890s.

A photograph of Lore Hall, the first residence hall for women at Delaware State University. Women were first admitted to Delaware State University in 1894, two years after the school opened. Women lodged in the President's House until Lore Hall was constructed in 1901.
