Interior of a Black Rural School
-
This photograph of the interior of a segregated African American school is important for understanding everyday school conditions for children of color.
-
Four children sit at tables in a classroom. Book shelves, bird identification charts, and multiple American flags decorate the room. There are no African American children seen in this picture, but the photographer Jackson Davis travelled around the Southern United States to photograph the conditions of rural, African American schools. These children may be immigrants of other ethnicities.
