Chief Charles Cullen “Little Owl” Clark Sr. , of the Nanticoke Indian tribe (29 Oct 1894, Millsboro, Sussex County, DE - 13 Apr 1971 (aged 76) Lewes, Sussex County, DE) is posing in full Nanticoke Chief regalia in front of his store. The photograph was taken within the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS).
Chief Charles C. "Little Owl" Clark served as Nanticoke Delaware Chief from 1928 to 1971. He was the son of William Russell "Wynikako" Clark, who served as the first Delaware Nanticoke Chief from 1881 to 1928. Chief "Little Owl´s" son was Chief Kenneth S. "Red Deer" Clar, who served as Nanticoke Delaware Chief from 1971 to 2003.
